Scott wins twice
HAGERSTOWN, Md. – Jasmine Scott (Derwood, Md./Bullis) won the 55 and 200 to lead McDaniel to a third-place finish at the Hagerstown Invitational in women's indoor track and field action on Saturday.
The Green Terror finished with 77 points behind Hood and Goucher. The Blazers won the six-team meet with 211 points while the Gophers recorded 115 points.
Scott ran to the top time in the preliminaries of the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.69 before winning the finals by 0.15 seconds in a time of 7.62 seconds – one of six Centennial Conference (CC)-qualifying marks hit on the day.
Scott added a 1.07-second victory in the 200 over her teammate Katie Corson (Ocean View, N.J./Ocean City), who was second in a CC-qualifying time of 28.72, outdistancing third place by 0.42 seconds. Corson was also ninth in the shot put with a throw of 6.04 meters.
Scott and Corson were also part of the distance medley relay, which finished second. The tandem joined Missy Black (Atglen, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) and Becky Kaler (Jefferson, Md./Brunswick) to finish in a time of 13:50.57.
Kaler also won the 3,000 with a time of 11:58.40.
Jasmine McCormick (Antioch, Calif./Holy Name) finished third in the high jump, clearing 1.37 meters. She was also seventh in the 55 with a time of 7.62 seconds. Both were conference-qualifying marks.
Forest Fleischer (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) placed third in the 1,000 with a time of 4:24.81. Katharine Armstrong (Wilmington, Del./Brandywine) and Sarah Kulp (Amherst, Mass./Amherst) were fifth (4:35.64) and eighth (4:38.15) in the event, respectively.
Phoebe McHale (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) finished seventh in the 3,000 with a time of 12:26.57.
Black added an eighth-place showing in the 800 with a time of 2:45.42.
Catherine Frondorf (Arlington, Va./H.B. Woodlawn) finished ninth in the 200 with a time of 33.90 seconds.
Sarah Holbrook (Winchester, Va./John Handley) rounded out McDaniel competitors, finishing 10th in the 800 (3:00.05) and 11th in the mile (6:41.61).
The Green Terror returns to action at the DuCharme Invitational hosted by Dickinson on Saturday. Action begins at 10 a.m.
