Scott named Athlete of the Week

LANCASTER, Pa. – Jasmine Scott (Derwood, Md./Bullis), a freshman on the McDaniel women's indoor track and field team, has been named the Centennial Conference (CC) Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 17-23.

Scott, a sprinter, led the Green Terror at the Orange & Maroon Classic hosted by Susquehanna on Sunday.

Scott notched her first two collegiate individual wins as well as leading the 4x200-meter relay to victory. In the 55 meters, Scott recorded the top time in the five preliminary heats with a time of 7.68 seconds before bettering that by 0.10 seconds in the finals to win the even by 0.22 seconds. The time of 7.58 in the finals places her sixth on the Green Terror all-time performer list.

She also now ranks fifth on the 200 performers list after winning the event in a time of 27.41 – 0.41 seconds faster than any of the other 25 competitors.

Scott teamed with Katie Corson, Jennifer Garnett and Sarah Byron to turn in the eighth-fastest 4x200-meter relay, combining to win the race in a time of 1:52.90.

The Green Terror returns to action at the Patriot Games hosted by George Mason on Saturday.
