Schauer wins twice in victory

WASHINGTON, D.C. – McDaniel won all five contested singles matches to defeat Trinity (D.C.) 7-2 in non-conference women's tennis action on Thursday.

Winsome Schauer (Hartford, Conn./Watkinson School) led the Green Terror (3-10) with a pair of victories that included a 6-0, 6-0 win at second singles.

Arrelis Piantni led the Tigers (0-9) with a forfeit victory at sixth singles.

Schauer also teamed with Maddy Simmons (Bowie, Md./Bowie) to win at first singles, 8-1. Simmons capped her 2-0 day with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles.

Lindsay Russell (Leonia, N.J./Leonia) and Leesa Malczewski (Denton, Md./Chesapeake) added an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles. Individually, both capped 2-0 days with straight-set wins. Malczewski won 6-0, 6-2 at third singles while Russell was a 7-5, 6-1 winner at fourth singles.

Brenna Gutshall (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove Area) won 6-1, 6-2 at fifth singles.

McDaniel returns to action at home against Bryn Mawr on Saturday. Match time is 1 p.m.
