Schauer wins in straight sets

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – East Stroudsburg won all three singles matches 8-1 en route to a 7-2 victory over McDaniel in non-conference women's tennis action on Sunday.

Winsome Schauer (Hartford, Conn./Watkinson School) led the Green Terror (1-2) with a straight-set victory at No. 1 singles in the team's first action on the spring.

Annie Vega led the Warriors (4-1) with a 2-0 day that included an 6-1, 6-0 victory at fourth singles. She also teamed with Taylor Presby for a win at second singles.

Schauer won her singles match, 6-2, 6-2.

Laura Pollard (Federalsburg, Md./Colonel Richardson) added a win for McDaniel at second singles. She took the opening set 6-2 before falling to Amina Dickson in a tiebreaker in the second set, 7-6 (7-4). Pollard bounced back to take the super-tiebreaker third set, 12-10.

The Green Terror continues its spring break trip to Hilton Head, S.C., against Kutztown on Monday. Match time is 2:30 p.m.
