Pollard drops one game in 2-0 day

WASHINGTON, D.C. – McDaniel won all six singles matches in straight sets to complete a 9-0 non-conference women's tennis victory over Trinity (D.C.) on Tuesday.

Laura Pollard (Federalsburg, Md./Colonel Richardson) led the Green Terror (4-8) with a 2-0 day, dropping just one game.

Stefanie Merki paced the Tigers (1-7), winning five games.

Pollard teamed with Elise O'Meara (Bowie, Md./Elizabeth Seton) for an 8-0 victory at No. 2 doubles before taking fourth singles, 6-0, 6-1. O'Meara won No. 5 singles, 6-3, 6-1.

Carissa Grove (Boonsboro, Md./St. Maria Goretti) and Brittany Starlings (Mt. Airy, Md./Linganore) won first doubles 8-1 while Kiersten Patron (Timonium, Md./Dulaney) and Nicole Arnold (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) took third doubles by the same score.

Grove capped a 2-0 day with a 6-0, 6-1 win at first singles while Starlings also made it 2-0 with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at second singles.

Patron took third singles 6-1, 6-2 to cap her two-win day while Arnold made it a clean sweep, taking sixth singles, 6-1, 6-0.

The Green Terror returns to action at home against Franklin & Marshall on Wednesday. Match time is 3:30 p.m.
