McDaniel notches first win of season with 6-3 victory over Penn State-Harrisburg

HARRISBURG, Pa. – Sara Yost (Westminster, Md./Francis Scott Key) dropped just three games in a 2-0 day to lead McDaniel to a 6-3 victory over Penn State-Harrisburg in non-conference women's tennis action on Friday.

The Green Terror (1-7) recorded wins in all five contested singles match to overcome a 2-1 deficit after doubles.

Kelly Jackson and Maddi Kuzo led the Lions (1-5) with an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles.

Yost partnered with Devan Hamric (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) for an 8-1 victory at second doubles.

Yost won her third singles match 6-1, 6-1 while Hamric was also a straight-set victor, taking No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-2.

Carissa Grove (Boonsboro, Md./St. Maria Goretti) won fourth singles without dropping a game, 6-0, 6-0 while Elise Un-O'Meara (Bowie, Md./Elizabeth Seton) was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at No. 5 singles.

Brittany Starlings (Mt. Airy, Md./Linganore) rounded out the winners with a 6-3, 6-1 victory in the top singles slot.

McDaniel returns to action at Haverford on Saturday. Match time is 12 p.m.
