Yellow Jackets take all seven contested matches
ASHVILLE, Va. – Martha Vlahakis won twice to lead Randolph-Macon to a 7-0 victory over McDaniel in non-conference women's tennis action on Sunday.
The Yellow Jackets (6-3) took all seven contested matches. Third doubles and sixth singles were not contested.
Devan Hamric (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) led the Green Terror (0-4), taking a set at No. 2 singles.
Vlahakis partnered with Caty Betts-Holcomb to take an 8-4 decision at first singles before winning 7-5, 6-3 at No. 1 singles.
Olayenisi Ogunshina and Sarah Rainey also won twice, teaming for an 8-4 win at second doubles. Ogushina was a 7-6 (7-2), 6-1 winner at third singles while Rainey won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 4 singles.
Reba Sledd took the first set at second singles 6-1 before Hamric forced the deciding set with a 6-4 win, where Sledd prevailed, 7-5.
Jane Oh rounded out the winners, taking fifth singles, 6-1, 6-0.
McDaniel returns to action in the Centennial Conference opener at home against Swarthmore on Saturday. Match time is 3 p.m.
