McDaniel earns NCAA bid

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – McDaniel learned on Monday afternoon that its season will continue with an at-large bid into the NCAA Division III women's soccer field.

The Green Terror (12-5-2) fell to Johns Hopkins in penalty kicks in Saturday's Centennial Conference (CC) semifinal but earned one of 20 Pool C bids into the field of 64.

McDaniel will travel to Virginia Beach, Va., for the opening round of the tournament. The Green Terror will take on Lynchburg in the one first-round game on Saturday. Christopher Newport hosts Cabrini in the other game. The winners will meet in the second round on Sunday. Game times will be announced on Tuesday.

The Hornets (18-3) defeated Bridgewater in the ODAC championship game 1-0 in overtime on Sunday.

The Captains (18-0-1) won the CAC championship 4-0 over Frostburg on Saturday.

The Cavaliers (13-2-4) won the automatic qualifier out of the Colonial States Athletic Conference, defeating Marywood 2-1 on Saturday.

The Green Terror is making its third straight NCAA tournament berth.

Senior Katie Kirschennman (Damascus, Md./Damascus) leads the team with eight goals while freshman Maddie Schwartz (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) has four goals. Abby Keen (Salisbury, Md./Parkside) has a team-best eight assists and is second on the team with 12 points.

Senior Sarah McDonald (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) has a 0.98 goals-against average and .791 save percentage. Freshman Sydney Kelly (Windsor, Pa./Eastern York) has a 1.20 goals-against average and .707 save percentage.
