LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall scored just 39 seconds into overtime to record a 2-1 victory over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) women's soccer action on Wednesday.
Jackie Fahrenholz (Scotch Plains, N.J./Scotch Plains Fanwood) led the Green Terror (8-3, 4-1 CC) with her first collegiate goal.
Emily O'Hara netted the game-winner for the Diplomats (4-5-1, 1-3-1 CC), who got off the only shot of the extra session.
Reanna Leoni played a ball in from the midfield that O'Hara collected before splitting the defenders and sending a low-liner towards the middle of the net. The ball bounced through and into the net for the game-winner.
Leoni opened the scoring, working around the defense and firing from the endline on the left side into the far upper-corner of the net for a 1-0 lead in the 26th minute.
Just 2:02 into the second half, Fahrenholz blasted a shot from 25 yards out that went off the keeper's hands and into the upper-right side of the net to even the game.
The teams played even through the remainder of regulation.
McDaniel finished with a 13-10 edge in shots, including holding a 7-3 margin in the first half, and 8-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Sydney Kelly (Windsor, Pa./Eastern York) made three saves for the Green Terror while Gabby Pannayotakis had two stops for the Diplomats.
McDaniel returns to action at Bryn Mawr on Saturday. Game time is 12 p.m.
