Quinn jumpstarts victory

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – McDaniel scored a pair of first-half goals to key a 3-0 win over Washington (Md.) in Centennial Conference (CC) women's soccer action on Saturday.

Maggie Quinn (Crofton, Md./Archbishop Spalding) scored the first goal for the Green Terror (11-5, 5-4 CC), who will assure itself a conference playoff appearance with a win or a tie in next Saturday's regular-season finale against Dickinson.

Melissa Berry led the Shorewomen (4-10-2, 1-8 CC) with four saves in goal.

Quinn stole the ball from a defender and scored to stake McDaniel to a 1-0 lead at the 34:40 mark.

Just 6:07 later, Olivia Muro (Bolton, Conn./Bolton) registered her first collegiate goal, ricocheting a shot off the far post and in off a Christina Wroblewski (Glen Mills, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) pass.

Meghan Sturgill (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) put back the rebound off her own blocked shot to set the final margin in the 60th minute.

Haley Jacobs (Forest Hill, Md./North Harford) made three saves in nearly 72 minutes of action for the Green Terror, who doubled up the Shorewomen in the shot column, 14-7.

McDaniel returns to action at Susquehanna on Tuesday. Game time is 7 p.m.
