Quinn scores twice

WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel tallied three second-half goals to secure a 4-0 win over Marymount in non-conference women's soccer action on Wednesday.

Maggie Quinn (Crofton, Md./Archbishop Spalding) scored the final two goals of the game for the Green Terror (2-0), finishing a pair of breakaways for the hosts.

Holly Wenger made eight saves in the first 71 minutes for the Saints (0-3), who were limited to just two shots on the game.

Haley Jacobs (Forest Hill, Md./North Harford) did not need to make a save to pick up her first collegiate shutout.

Nicole Hill (Bowie, Md./Bowie) finished a hard shot from the middle of the box off a Julia Pope (Manchester, Md./North Carroll) pass just 2:34 into the game.

The defense would make that single first-half goal stand.

In the 58th minute, Sam Wilson (New Castle, Colo./Coal Ridge) headed in an Erica Diffendal (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) corner kick for a 2-0 lead.

Quinn dribbled into the box before firing a shot past the diving keeper to make it a 3-0 game two minutes later.

In the 80th minute, Meghan Sturgill (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) played a ball through the defense that Quinn collected and finished in the back of the net for the final margin.

McDaniel finished with advantages of 25-2 in shots and 12-1 in corner kicks.

The Green Terror returns to action at home against Neumann on Saturday. Game time is 2 p.m.
