FREDERICK, Md. – McDaniel scored three times in the second half to secure a 4-0 win over Hood in the women's soccer season opener for both teams on Saturday.
Julia Pope (Manchester, Md./North Carroll) led the Green Terror (1-0) with a goal and an assist.
Leah Norris made six saves for the Blazers (0-1), who were limited to just three shots – only one on the cage.
After a scoreless first 42 minutes, Catherine Wroblewski (Glen Mills, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) registered her first collegiate point to stake the visitors to a 1-0 lead with 3:42 to play in the first half. Sam Wilson (New Castle, Colo./Coal Ridge) played the ball to Wroblewski, who juked her defender and finished in the nearside net.
Maggie Quinn (Crofton, Md./Archbishop Spalding) finished off a Pope shot-and-save in the 55th minute to double the advantage.
Wroblewski's twin sister, Christina, made it 2-for-2 for the sisters scoring in their collegiate debuts, finishing off a Nicole Hill (Bowie, Md./Bowie) pass from the left corner at the 78:08 mark.
Pope capped the scoring off a feed from Erica Diffendal (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) assist in the 81st minute.
Haley Jacobs (Forest Hill, Md./North Harford) made just one save in her debut between the pipes.
McDaniel finished with a 24-3 advantage in shots and 5-0 edge in corner kicks.
The Green Terror returns to action at home against Marymount on Wednesday. Game time is 4 p.m.
