Cangemi, Pope tally goals

FREDERICK, Md. – McDaniel scored a goal in each half to notch a 2-0 victory over Hood in non-conference women's soccer action on Monday.

Ariel Cangemi (Sewell, N.J./Gloucester County Institute of Technology) got the Green Terror (2-9) on the board in the 33rd minute.

Kirsten Cacciola made seven saves for the Blazers (2-11) in net.

Teresa Paz (Hollywood, Md./Leondardtown) fed Cangemi, who one-timed a shot into the lower-right corner for a 1-0 lead at the 32:10 mark.

Just 8:08 into the second half, Julia Pope (Manchester, Md./North Carroll) doubled the advantage. Kelly Purcell (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) played a ball through to Pope, who finished to the keeper's right for the 2-0 margin.

McDaniel finished with a 19-8 advantage in shots and 6-0 edge in corner kicks.

The Green Terror returns to action at Swarthmore on Saturday. Game time is 7 p.m.
