McDaniel works OT for first win
Beall scores 2:56 in extra session for 2-1 victory over Hood
WESTMINSTER, Md. – Liz Beall (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) scored the game-winning goal 2:56 into the first overtime to lead McDaniel to a 2-1 victory over Hood in non-conference women's soccer action on Saturday.
The Green Terror (1-1-1) and Blazers (2-3) each tallied single markers in the first half and played a scoreless second half to set up the extra session.
Cara Roig (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air) found Beall, who converted the first attempt of overtime for her first goal of the year.
Sam Wilson (New Castle, Colo./Coal Ridge) netted her first collegiate tally at the 18-minute mark of the first half, finishing a feed from Beall.
In the 38th minute, Jessica Devine tallied for Hood for the equalizer.
McDaniel finished with a 17-7 advantage in shots and 4-2 edge in corner kicks.
Jan Woolley (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) made four saves for the Green Terror while Kirsten Cacciola had 11 for the Blazers.
McDaniel returns to action in the Centennial Conference opener at home against Muhlenberg on Saturday. Game time is 12:30 p.m.
