Baer lifts McDaniel

Green Terror tally 1-0 win at Washington

CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Brittany Baer (Manchester, Md./Westminster) tallied in the 53rd minute to lift McDaniel to a 1-0 win at Washington (Md.) in Centennial Conference (CC) women's soccer action on Saturday.

After a scoreless first half, the Green Terror (4-11-1, 3-5 CC) took the lead early in the second half but then had to endure a 90-minute lightning delay just before the game had reached its reasonable point of conclusion of 70 minutes.

Eventually the teams were able to get back on the field and McDaniel was able to hold the Shorewomen (5-9-1, 1-7 CC) off the board for its third shutout of the season.

Bear, last season's leading scorer with seven goals, collected a loose ball and booted it into the opposite corner for her third of the season and first since Sept. 7.

Leanne Hollinger (Westmisnter, Md./Winters Mill) needed to make just two saves in her second individual shutout of the season.

Washington finished with a 10-6 advantage in shots while McDaniel had a 10-4 advantage in corner kicks.

The Green Terror returns to action at No. 14 Johns Hopkins on Tuesday. Game time is 7 p.m.
