Hollinger records 15 saves for McDaniel but Cardinals tally single goal in second half
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Kelly Donnelly netted an unassisted goal at the 51st minute to lead Catholic to a 1-0 victory over McDaniel in non-conference women's soccer action on Wednesday.
The Cardinals (1-0) finished with a 22-4 shot advantage over the Green Terror (0-2), who were shut out for the second time in as many days to open the season.
After a scoreless first half, Donnelly found the back of the net for the game's only tally.
Freshman Claire Woolley (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) notched two of McDaniel's four shots.
Leanne Hollinger (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) made 15 saves in goal for the Green Terror, giving her 25 stops in the first two games of her senior season.
Tere Rossi made three saves for Catholic.
McDaniel returns to action at Mary Washington on Friday. Game time is 4 p.m.
