O'Boyle notches fall in finale

WESTMINSTER, Md. - Messiah won the final eight matches to take a 44-6 victory over McDaniel in non-conference wrestling action on Tuesday.

Ryan O'Boyle (North Reading, Mass./Central Catholic) led the Green Terror (8-12) with his team-leading 12th fall of the season to improve to 22-1 overall.

Nick Havener led the third-ranked Falcons (9-10) with a first-period fall during a stretch that included four match-termination wins.

After Lucas Malmberg took the forfeit at 125 to put Messiah up 6-0, O'Boyle evened the match with a first-period pin, winning in 2 minutes, 26 seconds.

Kaleb Loht put the Falcons back in front with a 7-3 victory at 141 and put the Falcons in front for good.

Chris Williamson got a late takedown in the second period to win his match at 149 by fall.

A third-period takedown and advantage time gave Larry Cannon a 9-1 major-decision victory at 157.

A busy third period led to a 10-5 win for Jonathan Goodwin at 165 before Ricardo Plummer earned a technical fall early in the third period at 174.

Havener stretched the lead to 33-6 with his 2-minute, 5-second pin at 184.

Advantage time gave Ben Kramer a 16-1 technical fall victory at 197.

Charles Jones wrapped up the night with a 2-minute, 45-second pin at heavyweight.

McDaniel returns to action at the Centennial Conference championship hosted by Ursinus on Saturday. Action begins at 11 a.m.
