Avino records three wins, two by fall

WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel recorded 11 forfeit victories in the first two matches to key a 3-0 day in a home non-conference wrestling quad match on Saturday.

The Green Terror (3-0) upended Southern Virginia 55-0 to open the day before topping West Virginia University Tech 45-8 in the day's second match. McDaniel concluded the day with a 31-16 victory over UMBC.

Taylor Avino (Fair Haven, N.J./Rumson-Fair Haven) went 3-0 to lead a quintent of triple winners. Avino recorded first-period pins against Southern Virginia's Jacob Behan (2:52) and UMBC's Alec Pence (2:03) and was awarded a forfeit to cap the West Virginia University Tech match.

Mike O'Boyle (North Reading, Mass./North Reading) added a 3-0 day at the other end of spectrum. He had forfeit wins against the Knights and Golden Bears before notching an 8-6 win over the Retreivers' Sean Killet.

Ryan O'Boyle (North Reading, Mass./Central Catholic) went 3-0 at 133, adding a pair of forfeits before topping UMBC's Josh Weesner with a 2-minute, 51-second fall.

Scott Forrester (Manchester, N.J./Manchester) had a pair of decisions and a forfeit win at 184. Forrester tallied a 5-1 win against Michael Kilstrom (SVU) and a 6-4 victory over Mike Massorelli (UMBC).

Logan Yox (Westminster, Md./Liberty) rounded out the triple winners and was the only one to not have a forfeit among his victories.

Yox recorded a 4-minute, 9-second pin against Southern Virginia's Jonathan Barrett at 157 before adding a 7-2 win over Wade Lacey (WVUT). Against the Retrievers, he moved up to 165 and recorded an 11-1 win over Curtis Taylor.

Trey Mitchell (Lewes, Del./Caesar Rodney) and Mason Goretsas (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) each went 2-0. Mitchell had a forfeit and a 6-minute, 53-second fall at 141 while Goretsas had wins of 13-4 and 7-4 at 149.

Nick Cross (Centreville, Md./Queen Annes County) and Ricky Tisinger (Edinburg, Va./Stonewall Jackson) went 2-1 at 174 and 197, respectively.

Each took a forfeit. Cross had a 28-second pin against the Golden Bears' Al Yasin while Tisinger had a fall in 3:54 against the Knights' Ethan Jamison. Both fell by pin in their UMBC match.

James McGarry (Ocean City, Md./Stephen Decatur) and Josh Moore (Dover, Del./North Caroline [Md.]) rounded out winners, taking forfeit victories.

The Green Terror returns to action at the annual Petrofes Invitational hosted by Messiah on Nov. 30-Dec. 1. Action begins at 11 a.m. on Friday.
