Camlin records three falls

LEXINGTON, Va. – Joe Camlin (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) recorded three pins in a 3-0 day, leading McDaniel to a 2-1 outing at a Centennial Conference (CC) quad match hosted by Washington and Lee on Saturday.

The Green Terror (5-10, 4-4 CC) rounded out its conference dual schedule with the three matches, falling to dual-meet champion Ursinus 25-15 in the day's first match. McDaniel bounced back with a 23-15 victory over conference newcomer New York University and closed out the day with a 49-3 victory over Muhlenberg.

Against the Bears (12-0, 8-0 CC), Mike O'Boyle (North Reading, Mass./North Reading) opened the match with a 9-4 victory at 125 before Alex Blank recorded a 10-2 major decision at 133.

Mason Goretsas (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) won a 3-2 bout at 141 to put the Green Terror back in front 6-4 but Connor McCormick (149) and Richard Jasinski (157) notched back-to-back wins for Ursinus.

McCormick recorded a 2-minute, 55-second fall and Jasinksi won 12-9 for a 13-6 advantage.

Sean McGarry (Ocean City, Md./Stephen Decatur) closed the deficit to 13-9 with a 5-2 victory at 165 but three straight Bear wins sealed the match.

Matthew Kreuger (174) and Daniel Manganaro (184) each won by decision while Connor McNamara (197) won by fall.

Camlin rounded out the match with a 2-minute, 10-second pin.

An O'Boyle forfeit and Sean Ensign (Westminster, Md./Westminster) 4-3 win at 133 staked McDaniel to a 9-0 lead against the Violets (8-9, 4-3 CC).

Matthew DiGiovanni got NYU on the board with a 12-11 win at 141 before Logan Yox (Westminster, Md./Liberty) and Brent Lowe (Dumfries, Va./Forest Park) victories stretched the lead to 17-3.

Yox won 9-6 at 149 before Lowe recorded his 10th technical fall of the season, 16-0 in 4:28.

Four straight NYU decisions closed the gap to 17-15 but Camlin 12th pin of the season sealed the win for McDaniel. His fall came in 4:22.

Against the Mules (0-6, 0-6 CC), six Green Terror wrestlers were awarded forfeits to key the victory. O'Boyle, Ensign, Lowe, McGarry, Jacob Reik (Fredericksburg, Va./Stafford) and Mike Meekins (Berlin, Md./Stephen Decatur) had to only step on the mat for their six points.

Goretsas notched an 11-3 victory at 141 and Yox recorded a 5-0 win at 149 in the first two matches competed.

John Sternlicht notched Muhlenberg's lone win by a 5-4 margin at 184 before Camlin wrapped up the day

The Green Terror returns to action in a home tri-match against Wilkes and UMBC on Saturday. Action begins at 12 p.m.
