Senior tabbed to Capital One Academic All-District II at-large first team

WESTMINSTER, Md. – Brock Glotfelty (Grantsville, Md./Northern Garrett), a senior on the McDaniel wrestling team, was named to the Capital One Academic All-District II College Division At-Large first team on Thursday.

Glotfelty, a heavyweight, earned his first nod to the team with a 3.775 GPA as of the end of the fall semester. Ten student-athletes, who are not part of the 12 sports that have a distinct Academic All-America team, are selected to the at-large first team. The exercise science and physical education major now advances to the ballot with all of the first-team selections from the eight districts for the Academic All-America team, which will be released on June 7.

Glotfelty is a two-time member of the NWCA Scholar All-America team, awarded to individual wrestlers who have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 and advanced to the NCAA championship.

Glotfelty was named the Centennial Conference Wrestler of the Year as a junior. He was a two-time individual champion at heavyweight and a three-time NCAA championship qualifier, where he earned All-America accolades twice. In 2011, he finished third at heavyweight – the highest finish by a Green Terror wrestler.

Glotfelty finished the season with a 34-3 record and team-best 14 pins. He is the program's career wins leader with 126 and won 14 tournament titles in his four years on the Hill.

He participated in discussion during McDaniel presidential inauguration week, American Education in the 21st Century and was earned the department's John Alexander Medal, awarded annually to the male senior athlete with the best record in athletics. He also earned the Richard A. Clower Award for Excellence in Exercise Science and Physical Education.

The members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) select the All-District team. The District II College Division consists of all non-NCAA Division I colleges and universities in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.

To be nominated for the Capital One Academic All-America program presented by CoSIDA, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.3 or higher cumulative grade-point average and be a starter or significant reserve.
