Senior, team earn NWCA honor for excellence on mat and in classroom
MANHEIM, Pa. – Brock Glotfelty (Grantsville, Md./Northern Garrett), a senior on the McDaniel wrestling team, has been named a Scholar All-American by the National Wrestling Coaches Association, announced recently.
As a team, the Green Terror ranked eighth in Division III in team GPA to earn the scholar team award. The team GPA is calculated as an average of the top 10 students on each team. McDaniel had a collective GPA of 3.4123 – one of only two Centennial Conference teams to make the top 24.
Glotfelty was one of 156 Division III wrestlers to earn the honor, which goes to individuals who have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 and advanced to the NCAA championship.
Glotfety, an exercise science major with a 3.775 GPA, earned his second straight academic honor and advanced to the NCAA tournament for the third year in a row, where he finished third at heavyweight.
Glotfelty finished the season with a 34-3 record and team-best 14 pins.
