Brackets released for 2011 NCAA wrestling
Glotfelty seeded fourth in third heavyweight appearance
LA CROSSE, Wis. – The NCAA released its brackets for the 2011 NCAA Division III wrestling championships and McDaniel's Brock Glotfelty (Grantsville, Md./Northern Garrett) earned the fourth seed at heavyweight.
Competition will begin at the La Crosse Center in La Crosse, Wis., on Friday at 11 a.m. CST and continue through Saturday.
Glotfelty enters the championship at 30-2, earning the lone Centennial Conference (CC) wild card after a second-place finish at the conference championship to make his third appearance at the national meet.
A two-time CC champion, both of Glotfelty's losses in 2010-11 came to Merchant Marine's Jud Connell, the third seed in the national bracket.
The No. 4 seed marks Glotfelty's highest seeding in his three appearances. As a sophomore, he entered as the sixth seed before finishing eighth to become the program's eighth different All-American. In 2010, he entered unseeded and dropped a pair of matches in his attempt to repeat as an All-American.
Glotfelty will open his weekend with a first-round bye before facing the winner of a bout between Jeremy Klein (Loras) and Tom Foote (Williams) in the second round.
If Glotfelty advances to Saturday's competition, he would be guaranteed a finish of no worse than eighth place and would garner his second All-America honors, becoming just the third Green Terror wrestler to accomplish that feat.
