PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Paige Messersmith (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney), a senior on the McDaniel women's lacrosse team, has been selected as a member of the South Team and will participate in the 2013 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) North/South Senior All-Star Game.
The annual contest will take place as part of championship weekend in Philadelphia. The 21-player South team will take on the North team as part of a tripleheader at Cabrini College in Radnor, Pa., on Saturday. The Division III game will conclude the session at 2 p.m. The Division I game will take place at 11:30 a.m. followed by the Division II game at 12:45 p.m.
Messersmith, a midfielder, was a consensus second-team All-American after being tabbed first-team All-Centennial Conference (CC) and first-team IWLCA All-Metro. Starting all 20 games, Messersmith led the team with 94 draw controls on the season to give her 300 for her career – the most in program and conference history. She also recorded team highs in ground balls (57) and caused turnovers (28). Messersmith ranked second on the squad with 45 goals and 68 points while leading the way with 23 assists.
Messersmith is one of eight CC seniors to earn the honor of playing in the prestigious event.
