Two earn All-CC women’s lacrosse honors

LANCASTER, Pa. – Two members of the McDaniel women's lacrosse team have been named to the All-Centennial Conference (CC) team, released on Tuesday.

Paige Messersmith (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney) and Steph Nichols (Wilmington, Del./St. Mark's) were both named to first team.

Messersmith, a junior midfielder, earned her third consecutive all-conference nod after being tabbed honorable mention as a freshman and to the second team as a sophomore. One of three unanimous selections to the first team, she started all 17 games and finished second on the team with 40 goals and 60 points. Her 20 assists led the team. She led the team and CC with a program-record 103 draw controls, which ranks second all-time in CC history for a single season. With 206 draw controls for her career, she has the most in program history and sixth most in conference history. She also ranked second on the team with 46 ground balls and was tied for team lead with 24 caused turnovers.

Nichols, a senior defender, earned her second All-CC nod. She was also named to the first team in 2010. As a senior, she led the team with 61 ground balls and 24 caused turnovers. She also corralled 37 draw controls and contributed a goal and two assists to the attack.

The Green Terror finished the season at 6-11 overall (3-6 CC).
