Messersmith named Player of the Week

LANCASTER, Pa. – Paige Messersmith (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney), a junior on the McDaniel women's lacrosse team, has been named the Centennial Conference (CC) Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Mar. 5-11.

Messersmith led the Green Terror (2-3, 1-0 CC) to a 1-1 week. She led the way on the defensive end with four caused turnovers and seven ground balls, both of which were team highs. She also corralled a team-best 12 draw controls, including 10 against No. 19 Stevenson on Tuesday.

Offensively, Messersmith added four goals and two assists.

For the season, she has 26 draw controls, eight caused turnovers and 16 ground balls – all of which lead the team. She has also contributed 10 goals and four assists.

McDaniel returns to action against Denison in Hilton Head, S.C., on Tuesday. Game time is 2 p.m.
