McDonnell, Messersmith earn second-team all-region accolades
BALTIMORE, Md. – Two members of the McDaniel women's lacrosse team have been named to the All-Metro Region team by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA), released on Thursday.
McDonnell, a senior defender, earned her first all-region nod after being named first-team All-Centennial Conference (CC). She started all 16 games, finishing tied for second on the team with 14 caused turnovers and added 27 ground balls. She also won 15 draw controls.
Messersmith, a sophomore midfielder, made her first all-region appearance after being named a second-team All-CC performer. Starting all 16 games, she finished second on the team with 24 goals and third on the team with 25 points. She led the team and CC with 55 draw controls, including a program-record 11 at Muhlenberg on Apr. 9. She also contributed 13 caused turnovers and 30 ground balls.
The Green Terror finished the season at 2-14 overall (2-7 CC).
