Dickinson tallies final four goals of game to defeat McDaniel

CARLISLE, Pa. – Sunnie Ko scored three times, including breaking a 10-all deadlock, to lead Dickinson to a 14-10 victory over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) women's lacrosse action on Wednesday.

Brittany Lines (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) led the Green Terror (1-12, 1-7 CC) with two goals and an assist while Paige Messersmith (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney) and Lauren McCadden (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) added two goals apiece.

Kelsey Muir added three goals for the Red Devils (5-9, 2-4 CC), who scored four goals in the final 17:23 of the game for the victory.

Tied at 10-all after McCadden found the back of the net on a free-position attempt with 18:37 to play, Ko answered with a free-position tally of her own 1:14 later to put the hosts on top.

Lucy West notched a pair of unassisted goals around a Linzi Burstein-to-Taryn Abbassian tally to extend the lead to its final margin – the largest by either team in the game.

Lauren Jonas and Muir staked Dickinson to a 2-0 lead before 2:54 had elapsed with tallied just 36 seconds apart.

Messersmith cut the deficit in half just 2:05 later before Ko and Ella Clough went back-to-back 30 seconds apart to stretch the lead to 4-1 with 22:35 on the first-half clock.

Danielle DeColli (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll) finished a Lines feed just 1:04 later before Lines made it a one-goal game 50 seconds after that.

Anna Beaudry (Amherst, Mass./Amherst Regional) found McCadden to knot the game at 4-all with 17:56 to play.

Kara Glazer and Lisa Jurd (Columbia, Md./Hammond) traded markers before Kaity Moore and Ko once again put the hosts on top by two with 5:23 remaining.

Messersmith and Emily Harmon (Columbia, Md./Hammond) knotted the game at 7-all entering the break.

A Muir free-position goal put the Red Devils up 8-7 just 48 seconds after intermission before Lines and Chelsea Watkins (Columbia, Md./Hammond) gave the Green Terror its first lead of the game with 25:34 showing.

Muir and Abbassian turned the one-goal deficit into a one-goal lead before McCadden evened the game for the final time.

Steph Nichols (Wilmington, Del./St. Mark's) led the McDaniel defense with four ground balls and three caused turnovers.

The Green Terror returns to action at home against Ursinus on Saturday. Game time is 12 p.m.
