Lines breaks deadlock to give Green Terror victory over 14th-ranked Catholic

WESMINSTER, Md. – Brittany Lines (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) tallied unassisted with 6:44 on the clock to break an 8-all deadlock and give McDaniel a 9-8 win over No. 14 Catholic in non-conference women’s lacrosse action on Thursday.

Brittany Baer (Manchester, Md./Westminster) registered three goals, including the game-tying goal 6-minutes, 22-seconds earlier, to lead the Green Terror (6-1), who knocked off its second ranked opponent this season.

Kate Narzikul matched Baer with three goals to pace the Cardinals (1-5), who fell to 0-3 against Centennial Conference competition this season.

Leanne Hollinger (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) made two of her 14 saves for McDaniel after Lines’ marker and defense forced three of Catholic’s 25 turnovers in the waning minutes.

Narzikul finished a Mary Swarthout feed 18 seconds into the game to give Catholic a 1-0 lead.

Lindsay Davenport and Swarthout stretched the lead to 3-0 at the 7:37 mark before Baer broke up the shutout just over a minute later, finishing a Sarah Mintz (Medfield, Mass./Medfield) feed.

Katie Shields stretched the lead back to three at the 10:24 mark before Anna Beaudry (Amherst, Mass./Amherst Regional) started a three-goal run to draw the Green Terror even with 12:44 to play in the first half.
