Perez leads balanced attack with 12

WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel opened the game on an 11-0 run en route to a 73-44 Centennial Conference (CC) women's basketball victory over Bryn Mawr on Saturday.

Steph Perez (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East) scored 12 points to lead the Green Terror (8-10, 5-8 CC), playing a team-high 20 minutes.

Nicolette Parmese paced the Owls (1-16, 0-13 CC) with 21 points and 11 rebounds.

Stephanie Fish (Brick, N.J./Brick Memorial) opened the scoring, hitting a second-chance layup 45 seconds into the game.

Two free throws each from Codi McMaster (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove) and Fish stretched the lead to 6-0 before Perez canned a 3-pointer with 17:55 to play.

A Fish jumper capped the opening burst 2:33 into the game.

A Parmese layup closed the deficit to 15-9 before Samantha Dowling (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Governor Livingston) hit a 3-pointer and Shelby Taylor (Huntingtown, Md./Huntingtown) converted a pair of layups to stretch the lead to 13 with 10:30 to play.

Two Parmese free throws trimmed the deficit to 24-15 with 7:37 showing but McDaniel closed the half on a 19-3 run to take a 43-18 lead into the break.

Treys from Brittney Davis (Laurel, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti) and Perez around a Jackie Handy jumper stretched the lead to 29 before Perez hit two free throws to push the advantage to 30 for the first time with 16:07 remaining.

The lead grew to as many as 33 on a Dowling triple with 1:44 to play before Parmese scored the final two buckets of the game.

Davis finished with six assists while Allie Eader (Ijamsville, Md./Linganore) added five and Emilee Bosley (Oakland, Md./Southern Garrett) chipped in four to go with four points and four rebounds. As a team, the Green Terror finished with 25 assists on its 27 baskets.

Davis added seven points while Fish and Taylor had eight each.

The Green Terror returns to action at Ursinus on Tuesday. Game time is 7 p.m.
