HAVERFORD, Pa. – Haverford built a 13-point lead in the first half en route to a 55-42 victory over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) women's basketball action on Tuesday.

Steph Perez (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East) netted a game-high 17 points for the Green Terror (5-6, 2-5 CC), recording her highest single-game total since the first weekend of the season and reaching double figures for the first time in four games.

Rachel Baskin led three players in double figures with 15 points for the Fords (9-2, 6-1 CC), who moved into a tie for first place in the conference with the victory.

Dominque Meeks and Calla Miller traded baskets with Codi McMaster (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove) to open the game.

Rachael Rybak (Reisterstown, Md./Franklin) gave McDaniel a 6-4 lead with 14:49 to play in the opening half before Elizabeth Lynch drained a 3-pointer for the first of her 11 points, giving Haverford the lead for good 17 seconds after Rybak's layup.

Buckets from Lynch, Nina Voith and Pallavi Juneja stretched the lead to 13-6 before Rybak snapped a 4-miunte, 23-second scoring drought for the Green Terror.

Two Allie Eader (Ijamsville, Md./Linganore) fre throws closed the deficit to 15-10 with 7:50 to play but Baskin responded with a layup to push the lead back to five.

A Perez triple – one of a career-high five for the sophomore – made it a 15-13 game with 7:12 to play but a single Baskin free throw sparked a 14-3 run that stretched the advantage to 3 with 1:29 to play.

Three Perez 3-pointers, including one in the final 26 seconds to make it a 29-19 game at the break, accounted for the only McDaniel points of the final 7:49 of the stanza.

Seven straight points from Baskin pushed the lead to 17 before 2:18 had elapsed in the second half.

Perez canned another trey before a McMaster jumper with 15:34 to play accounted for the first non-Perez Green Terror points in 12:16. The basket was also part of a 9-0 burst that closed the deficit to 36-28 with 13:26 remaining.

After Lynch and Eader traded jumpers, Meeks hit a layup with 11:17 showing to spark an 8-0 counter that stretched the lead back to 16 fewer than two minutes later.

The Ford lead ballooned to as many as 18 on a Lynch layup with 7:09 to play before McDaniel was able to close the deficit to 11 en route to the 13-point final margin.

McMaster finished with eight points and five rebounds. Shelby Taylor (Huntingtown, Md./Huntingtown) led the way on the glass with six boards while Brittney Davis (Laurel, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti) handed out four assists. Taylor added four steals while McMaster had three and Davis nabbed two.

The Green Terror returns to action at home against Swarthmore on Thursday. Game time is 7 p.m.
