ATLANTA, Ga. – The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) announced its 2009-10 Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll recently, and McDaniel was among the honorees.

The Green Terror, who finished the season with a 20-7 overall record (16-4 Centennial Conference) and made its ninth consecutive conference tournament, was as successful in the classroom. The squad was 13th in all of Division III with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.478 for the past academic year.

This was the fourth consecutive season McDaniel earned the honor, ranking second in 2006-07, 24th in 2007-08 and tied for 11th in 2008-09.

Carnegie Mellon earned the top honor in Division III with a 3.616 average.

The Green Terror was the only Centennial Conference (CC) team honored in the Top 25 list as well as the lone representative from the Mid-Atlantic Region.

On the court in 2009-10, McDaniel, under 29th-year head coach Becky Martin, won its fourth CC championship, defeating Muhlenberg 72-56 in Allentown for the title. The team made its fifth NCAA tournament appearance, falling to Roanoke in the first round.

The award recognizes teams throughout the nation that have the highest grade-point averages for the 2009-10 season based on nominations submitted by WBCA-member coaches. The organization annually honors the top 25 teams in NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA and Junior College.

McDaniel opens the 2010-11 season with a home tournament on Nov. 19-20.
