Green Terror takes down Bryn Mawr to win 14th straight

WESTMINSTER, Md. - Ashley Lyles (Laurel, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti) netted a game-high 15 points to lead McDaniel to a 71-43 victory over Bryn Mawr in Centennial Conference (CC) women's basketball action on Saturday.

Coupled with Johns Hopkins' 73-66 win over No. 11 Muhlenberg, the Green Terror (14-4, 12-2 CC) move into first place in the conference standings, one-half game ahead of the Mules and Gettysburg.

The victory, McDaniel's 14th straight, was also the 600th in program history. The Green Terror is 600-397-2 in 52 seasons of women's basketball for a .602 winning percentage.

Lindsey Darvin led the Owls (1-16, 0-14 CC) with 14 points while Shanika Bridges-King and Cassie Kosarek chipped in 12 and 11, respectively.

Trailing 5-1 nearly three minutes into the game, Ali Moreland (Davidsonville, Md./South River), who finished with six points and five rebounds - all in the first half - hit a layup to spark a 15-2 burst over a seven-minute span.

An Emilie Naccarato layup pulled Bryn Mawr within 16-10 with 8:20 to play but that was as close as the Owls would get the rest of the way.

Grace counted with a triple at the 7:07 mark to spark a 28-6 stretch that gave the hosts a 34-16 advatange at the break.

A Lyles third-chance layup on the first possession of the second half pushed the lead to 20 for the first time en route to the final margin of 28.

Lyles added nine rebounds while Whitney Snoops (Millersville, Md./Archbishop Spalding) led the way on the glass with 10 rebounds for McDaniel, which outrebounded the Owls 42-29 in the game.
