ALLENTOWN, Pa. – McDaniel rapped out 19 hits to go with solid pitching, sweeping Muhlenberg in Centennial Conference (CC) softball action on Saturday.
The Green Terror (16-11-1, 8-1-1 CC) took the opener 4-0 before notching a 7-3 victory in game two.
Stacie Maring (Woodbine, Md./South Carroll) led McDaniel with three hits in game two and was part of a key double play in the seventh inning.
Amelia Shelley led the Mules (9-17, 5-5 CC) with four hits on the day, including going 3-for-3 in game one.
After Johnson drew another walk, she was lifted for pinch-runner Roxana Aviles (Manassas, Va./Osbourne).
McDaniel popped up the ensuing bunt attempt but a throwing error attempting to get Scardina going back to third sailed, allowing her to score any way for a 2-0 lead.
Miller followed with a single and Payton Lewis (Valrico, Fla./Durant) walked to load the bases.
Tayler Hishon (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas) singled through the left side to plate Aviles and Miller for the final margin.
Johnson worked around singles in the bottom of the sixth and seventh to notch her second shutout of the season, scattering five hits and fanning three.
Miller had two hits in game one.
In game two, Lewis poked a two-out single through the left side before scoring on a Hishon double to right for a 1-0 lead in the top of the first.
A two-out fielding error and back-to-back singles by Courtney Simon and Shelley tied the game in the bottom of the inning.
Megan Coyle (Las Vegas, Nev./Bishop Gorman) drew a walk to lead off the second before a fielding error and Scardina single put McDaniel back in front, 2-1.
A Haley Michael (Oldsmar, Fla./East Lake) single to lead off the fourth, sacrifice and fielder's choice put runners at the corners with one out.
Maring followed with an RBI single before a two-out Lewis double made it a 5-1 game.
Maring led off the sixth with a double and scored on a Lewis RBI groundout.
A Hishon single, stolen base and Olivia Kipe (Manchester, Md./Manchester Valley) double stretched the lead to 7-1.
After Kristina Qualben led off the bottom of the seventh with a single, Maring caught a fly ball and doubled her off first base for two outs.
Two walks, a hit batter and singles by Karissa Astrella and Allyson Sweeney cut the deficit to 7-3.
With the bases loaded, Cassie Rickrode (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) came on and got a strikeout to earn her program-record fourth save of the season.
Lewis joined Maring with three hits, adding three RBIs, while Hishon and Michael had two knocks each.
McDaniel returns to action at Shenandoah on Wednesday. The first game of the doubleheader begins at 3 p.m.
