LANCASTER, Pa. – Three members of the McDaniel softball team have been named to the All-Centennial Conference (CC) team, released on Wednesday.
Caroline Brehm (Hanover, Pa./New Oxford) was named the conference's Pitcher of the Year. Rachel Sidney (East Meadow, N.Y./East Meadow) joined Brehm on the first team while Emily Sneeringer (Hanover, Pa./South Western) earned second-team accolades.
Brehm, a junior right-handed pitcher, earned her third straight Pitcher of the Year honors, becoming just the third hurler in conference history to accomplish the feat. She is the third different Green Terror hurler to be named Pitcher of the Year. A unanimous first-team selection, Brehm is currently 23-11 in the circle with one save. She has a 1.41 earned-run average over her 233 1/3 innings pitched. She is second in all of Division III with 336 strikeouts against just 79 walks. She has allowed just 146 hits and thrown 33 complete games. She has 17 double-digit strikeout performances this season.
Sidney, a senior outfielder, has started all 40 games in which she has played this season with a team-best .370 batting average. In conference play, she hit a CC-best .481. On the year, she leads the team with 50 hits, including team bests of 12 doubles and six triples. She has scored 35 runs and added 13 RBIs from the leadoff spot. She is also 22-for-25 in stolen-base attempts. It is Sidney's first all-conference appearance.
Sneeringer, a senior third baseman, has started 35 of the 36 games in which she has appeared. She is hitting .323 on the season, ranking fourth on the team with 31 base hits. She has six doubles and two home runs among her base knocks this year. She has also drawn seven walks and been hit by a pitch 13 times for a .440 on-base percentage.
The Green Terror (26-15, 11-5 CC) returns to action at home against Cabrini in the first round of the ECAC South tournament on Wednesday. Game time is 4:30 p.m.
