CENTERVILLE, Mass. – Caroline Brehm (Hanover, Pa./New Oxford), a freshman on the McDaniel softball team, has been named to the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) South all-star first team, released on Tuesday.
Brehm, the Centennial Conference (CC) Pitcher of the Year and All-East second team selection, was also named the ECAC South Rookie of the Year.
She led the Green Terror (30-14) in the circle all season, pitching the team to third place at the Newport News NCAA Division III softball regional after leading the way all season.
The right-hander led all of Division III in strikeouts this season with 377 in 231 innings pitched. Her total set a new program and CC single-season record and she finished sixth all-time in Division III history.
In a 14-inning NCAA win over Ferrum on May 12, she broke her own program record for strikeouts in a single game with 20. It was also a new CC record and one shy of the NCAA tournament record.
She finished with a 1.45 earned-run average and walked just 64 batters and allowed only 122 hits. She went 24-10 in the circle with 30 complete games and 11 shutouts – all of which are new program-best marks.
