BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Angela Spinelli went 4-for-6 with seven RBIs and four runs scored to lead Bridgewater to a doubleheader sweep of McDaniel in non-conference softball action on Sunday.

The Eagles (31-11) took the opener 13-3 in five innings before completing the sweep with a 10-1 five-inning victory.

Rachel Sidney (East Meadow, N.Y./East Meadow) led the Green Terror (14-26) with two hits in the opener.

A Leah Cossentino one-out single ignited a six-run opening frame in game one.

Emily Morris was hit by a pitch and Lauren Childress drew a walk to load the bases before Drew Rutledge reached on an error to force in one run.

A walk to Sarah Heretick scored another before a Kristen Combs tow-run single and two-out error led to two more runs.

A Kaitlyn Vadenais (North Smithfield, R.I./North Smithfield) double, fielding error that allowed Lauren Fusco (Laurel, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti) and Sidney RBI single made it a 6-2 game in the top of the third.

Back-to-back doubles from Combs and Spinelli helped the hosts get both runs back in the bottom of the inning.

Megan Elfert (Finksburg, Md./Westminster) led off the fourth with a triple and scored on an error to make it 8-3.

A two-run double from Spinelli and two-run single from Childress keyed a five-run fourth that set the final margin.

In the nightcap, a pair of walks and Childress single staked Bridgewater to a 1-0 lead in the first.

The Eagles scored three in each of the next three innings to take a 10-0 lead.

Doubles from Combs and Melanie Lamb keyed the three-run second.

A Spinelli three-run home run accounted for the runs in the third.

An error and two two-out hit batters led to a Sarah Goodman two-run single that capped the three-run fourth.

A Stephanie Maring (Woodbine, Md./South Carroll) single and error broke up the shutout in the top of the fifth.
