Haverford sweeps McDaniel
HAVERFORD, Pa. – Dana Irshay went 5-for-6 with four RBIs and a run scored to lead Haverford to a sweep of McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) softball action on Saturday.
Lisa Karmel no-hit the Green Terror (11-8, 2-2 CC)
in game one before Haverford limited its visitors to just four hits
in the nightcap.
Candice Smith led off the bottom of the first with
a single before scoring on a Natalie Richman RBI
groundout to stake the Fords to an early 1-0 lead.
Doubles from Richman and Laina Gagliardi in the
second keyed a six-run frame that pushed the lead to
7-0.
An Erin Delaney three-run home run in the fourth
inning stretched the lead to double digits.
In game two, Delaney knocked in two runs with a single up the
middle to stake Haverford to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the
first.
Singles from Kristina Skinner (Westminster,
Md./Westminster) and Lauren Wildasin (Thurmont,
Md./Catoctin) in the fifth pulled the Green Terror within
2-1 before an Irshay double and Cassandra Searls
single set the final margin in the bottom of the
inning.
McDaniel returns to action at Messiah on Thursday. The first game
of the doubleheader begins at 3 p.m.
