Merkel crosses 19th

YORK, Pa. – Peter Merkel (Ellicott City, Md./Homeschool) finsihed 19th overall to lead McDaniel to a fifth-place showing at the Coach Achtzen Classic hosted by York (Pa.) in men's cross country action on Saturday.

The Green Terror finished with 116 points. Franklin & Marshall won the meet with 36 points.

Merkel finished the first 8,000-meter race of the season in a time of 28:31.42.

Calvin Ball (Westminster, Md./Westminster) crossed 31st overall with a time of 29:56.98 while Graham Miles (Harford, Conn./Kingswood-Oxford) was 38th with a time of 30:58.02.

Keegan Duesterhaus (Spartanburg, S.C./Spartanburg Day) finished 48th in his first collegiate 8K with a time of 32:22.46.

The Green Terror returns to action at the Dickinson Long-Short Invitational on Sept. 29.
