Zamostny finishes 23rd

NEWVILLE, Pa. – Jake Zamostny (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll) finished 23rd overall to lead McDaniel to a ninth-place finish at the 2011 Centennial Conference (CC) men's cross country championship hosted by Dickinson at Big Spring High School on Saturday.

The Green Terror finished with 254 points. Haverford won its 17th conference crown with just 19 points.

Zamostny finished the snowy and cold 8,000-meter race in a time of 28:20.0.

Peter Merkel (Ellicott City, Md./Homeschool) crossed 77th overall, finishing with a time of 31:21.8 while Ron Shriver (Westminster, Md./Francis Scott Key) was 84th with a time of 31:41.4.

Matt Peterson (Littleton, Colo./Lakewood) and Graham Miles (Hartford, Conn./Kingswood-Oxford) rounded out those who scored for McDaniel, placing 90th (33:08.2) and 93rd (33:36.4), respectively.

McDaniel returns to action at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional at DeSales. The first race begins at 11 a.m.
