McDaniel finishes 14th at Long-Short
NEWVILLE, Pa. – Jake Zamostny (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll) finished 27th in the 8,000-meter race of the highly-competitive Dickinson Long-Short Invitational in men's cross country action on Saturday.
The Green Terror combined its scores from the two races to score 398 points and finish 14th overall. On the 8,000-meter course that is a preview of the Centennial Conference meet on Oct. 29, McDaniel was 13th overall with 150 points, which was fifth among the conference teams in attendance.
Dickinson won its own invitational with a scant 36 points, including just nine in the 4,000-meter short race.
Zamostny crossed with a time of 27:52 on the muddy, hilly course.
Peter Merkel (Ellicott City, Md./Homeschool) finished 87th overall in a time of 29:13, improving 47 seconds in his second collegiate 8K race.
Ron Shriver (Westminster, Md./Francis Scott Key) crossed 118th with a time of 30:23.
Caleb Phillips (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) led the way on the 4,000-meter course, finishing 76th overall in a time of 14:02.
McDaniel returns to action at the prestigious Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh, site of the 2011 NCAA Division III Mideast Regional meet, on Friday.
