Relay takes silver

WESTFIELD, Mass. – The 4x800-meter relay teamed to finish second to lead McDaniel at the 2017 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III championship hosted by Westfield State in men's outdoor track and field action on Thursday.

The quartet of Jim Heilman (Lutherville, Md./Baltimore Lutheran), Alex Panagakos (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll), Will Greene (Westminster, Md./Delone Catholic [Pa.]) and Gavin Gibson (Newark, Del./Sanford) combined to run a time of 7:54.79, recording the No. 4 time in program history – bettering their time from two weeks ago by nearly two seconds.

Billy Emerson (Germantown, Md./Watkins Mill) and Ian Armstrong (Tallyville, Del./Brandywine) also competed at the championships. Emerson placed fifth in the shot put with a throw of 14.17 meters while also taking 12th in the discus with a toss of 36.36 meters. Armstrong was 10th in the discus with a throw of 39.23 meters.

The Green Terror finished 21st in the team standings of 31 teams with a score, recording 12 points.
