KISSIMMEE, Fla. – St. Ambrose won four singles matches to tally a 5-4 win over McDaniel in non-conference men's tennis action on Tuesday.
Luke Shuck (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) led the Green Terror (3-2) with a pair of wins. He teamed with Will Giles (LaVale, Md./Bishop Walsh) for an 8-5 win at first singles before Shuck won at second singles in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2.
Michael Allee won a pair of matches to lead the Bees (2-4), teaming with Daniel Rohlf for an 8-3 win at third doubles for taking the No. 3 singles matches. He won the opening set 6-1 before Quinn Burker (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) forced a third set with a 7-5 win. In the supertiebreaker third set, Allee prevailed, 10-5.
Burker and Jimmy Wawrzynski (Westminster, Md./Westminster) teamed for an 8-6 win at second doubles. Wawrzynski made it a 2-0 day with a win at No. 4 singles. He took the opening set 6-2 before Rohlf forced the tiebreaking third set with a 7-5 win. Wawrzynski prevailed in the deciding set, 10-5.
The Green Terror returns to action against Earlham in the second match in Florida on Wednesday. Match time is 11:30 a.m.
