Langsdale, Salomon notch pair of wins in 5-4 victory

TOWSON, Md. – McDaniel took two of the three doubles matches before splitting singles play for a 5-4 victory over Goucher in non-conference men's tennis action on Friday.

Ryan Salomon (Bethesda, Md./The Siena) led the Green Terror (1-0) with two wins, including a straight-set victory in singles play.

Seth Hoesman and David Spivey each won twice for the Gophers (0-2), including partnering for an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles. Hoesman took a 6-0, 6-3 decision at No. 1 singles while Spivey took a 7-6 (7-3), 6-0 decision in the second slot.

Salomon teamed with Matthew Langsdale (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) for an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles. Salomon then added a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 6 singles.

Langsdale secured the match for McDaniel, wrapping up a 2-0 day at fourth singles. Langsdale took the opening set 6-3 before Chad Resnik forced a third-set supertiebreaker winning in a tiebreaker in the second set 7-5 to take the set, 7-6.

In the super tiebreaker, Langsdale prevailed, 10-5.

Alex Guthrie (Perry, Ohio/Perry) and Philip Jorgensen won at No. 2 doubles 8-6 to give the Green Terror a 2-1 advantage after doubles.

Daniel Xinis (Owings, Md./Northern) rounded out the McDaniel winners with a 6-3, 6-0 victory at fifth singles.
