Van Nevel notches two wins in opener

WESTMINSTER, Md. – Paul Van Nevel (Gaithersburg, Md./Poolesville) won twice to lead McDaniel against Swarthmore in the Centennial Conference (CC) men's swimming opener on Saturday.


  • The Garnet (1-0, 1-0 CC) defeated the Green Terror (0-1, 0-1 CC) by a score of 73-22.

  • Alec Menzer won the 1000 free (10:03.59).
  • Riley McLaughlin won the 200 free (1:48.05) and 500 free (4:59.82).
  • Carlo Sivilotti won the 50 free (22.67).
  • Jeffrey Tse won the 100 free (47.43).
  • Jerry Gu won the 100 breaststroke (1:01.60).
  • Alec Menzer and Chris Smith joined Tse and Gu to win the 200 medley relay (1:37.90).
  • Raveesh Koul and Ben Hsiung joined Tse and Sivilotti to win the 200 free relay (1:29.91).

Next Up: The Green Terror returns to action at home against Ursinus on Saturday, Nov. 11. Meet time is 1 p.m.
