Brooks wins three times

WESTMINSTER, Md. – Ursinus won six of the 11 events to defeat McDaniel 57-38 in Centennial Conference (CC) men's swimming action on Saturday.

Brad Brooks (Newark, Del./Charter School of Wilmington) won three times to lead the Green Terror (0-4, 0-3 CC), including anchoring the 200 medley relay to victory to open the meet. Patrick Rogers (Landisville, Pa./Hempfield), Justin Allen (Ashburn, Va./Broad Run) and Stevie Hoyt (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) joined Brooks to swim a time of 1:41.54. The relay time ranks sixth all-time.

John Wieczorek led the Bears (3-2, 2-1 CC) with two individual wins, taking the 50 free (22.29 seconds) and 100 free (49.95).

Brooks also won the 200 freestyle for McDaniel with a time of 1:43.20 and touched first in the 500 free (4:40.00) one day after setting a pool record in the latter event.

Hoyt added a second win the 200 IM (2:02.73) while Allen made it a two-win day, touching first in the 100 breaststroke (1:01.11).

Hoyt was also third in the 100 backstroke with a time of 56.30, which ranks fourth all-time.

Allen added a second-place finish in the 1000 free (10:48.75).

Rogers was second in both the 50 (22.94) and 100 (50.32) free.

The Green Terror returns to action Towson on Saturday. Meet time is 1 p.m.
