WESTMINSTER, Md. – Salisbury won six events, including the final relay, to help down McDaniel 53-42 in non-conference men's swimming action on Saturday.
Brad Brooks (Newark, Del./Charter School of Wilmington) won three individual events to lead the Green Terror (1-5), touching first in the 200 and 1,000 freestyles as well as the 100 breaststroke. Brooks took the 1,000 free in a time of 10:15.01 before coming right back to win the 200 free in a time of 1:45.96. He touched first in the final individual event of the day, finishing the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:04.16 to help pull the hosts within 46-42.
However, the trio of Eric Robichaud, Eric Gillies, Philip Kuldell and Rich Ambrose teamed to win the 400 free relay by more than 12 seconds to lift the Sea Gulls (3-5) to victory. The quartet combined to swim a time of 3:33.04.
For Robichaud, it capped a three-win day. He also teamed with James Gough, William Gough and Daniel Keller to open the meet with a victory in the 400 medley relay, anchoring the group to a time of 4:16.58. He was also first to touch in the 100 freestyle (51.11 seconds).
Stevie Hoyt added the other two McDaniel victories. Hoyt won the 200 IM in a time of 2:06.46 and the 500 freestyle in a time of 5:17.33. Hoyt was also second in the 100 butterfly (56.01).
Keegan Duesterhaus (Spartanburg, S.C./Spartanburg Day) finished second to Brooks in the 1,000 free with a time of 11:17.19. He was second to Hoyt in the 500 free with a time of 5;36.83.
Nuckles made it a 1-2 finish in the 200 freestyle, finishing with a time of 1:55.09.
James Gough rounded out a two-win day with a victory in the 100 backstroke (57.52) for Salisbury while Keller capped his double-victory outing with a win in the 100 butterfly (55.37).
The Green Terror returns to action at Elizabethtown on Saturday. Meet time is 1 p.m.
