Shoremen win six events to down Green Terror, 48-46
WESTMINSTER, Md. - Dylan Pollock won three times to lead Washington (Md.) to a 48-46 victory over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) men's swimming action on Monday.
The Shoremen (4-5, 1-4 CC) won six events, including touching first in three straight after the Green Terror (4-5, 1-4 CC) had closed to within four with four events remaining.
Bryan Nuckles (Suffolk, Va./Nansemond-Suffolk Academy) won three times to pace the hosts in their final dual meet of the season.
A Nuckles victory in the 100 freestyle (49.79) closed the team score to within 32-28 before Nick Longsworth, who won twice on the night, touched first in the 100 backstroke (58.61).
Matt Violette and Austin Auger won the next two events to seal the victory, winning the 500 freestyle (5:02.11) and 200 breaststroke (2:21.06), respectively.
Nuckles capped his three-win day as part of the 200 freestyle relay, teaming with Wes Henry (Greencastle, Pa./Perkiomen), Chris Steinheimer (Monrovia, Md./Urbana) and Morgan DeHart (Salisbury, Md./Wiciomico) for a time of 1:33.30.
Longsworth and Pollock teamed with Johnny Helenek and Chris Soper to win the 200 medley relay in a time of 1:46.65.
Pollock's other win came in the 200 freestyle (1:53.87).
The Green Terror returns to action at the CC championships hosted by Franklin & Marshall on Feb. 18-20. Action begins at 6 p.m. on Friday.
