HUNTINGDON, Pa. – McDaniel needed double overtime to top Juniata 2-1 in non-conference men's soccer action on Tuesday.
Greysen Brockbank (Newville, Pa./Big Spring) scored the game-winning goal for the Green Terror (5-7-2), scoring with just 3:42 to play in the second overtime.
Dani Meyer-Arrivilla made the most noise offensively for the Eagles (4-12) with six shots that included four on goal.
Brockbank finished a Pat Palin (Ellicott City, Md./Mt. Hebron) assist from the left wing for his first goal of the season and McDaniel's first overtime victory since 2009.
Off a pass from Philip Bonsu (Columbia, Md./Wilde Lake), Carlos Valdez (Silver Spring, Md./Blake) fired a shot from the top of the box to stake the Green Terror to a 1-0 lead just 13:03 into the game.
In the 30th minute, however, an own goal evened the game at 1-all.
The keepers and defenses took over from there. Nick Over (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) made seven of his 10 saves after that point for McDaniel. Ben Forgas notched six of his seven saves after the early marker for Juniata. His defenders helped him out as well, stopping two more shots on frame that included a Randall Hilleary (Issaquah, Wash./Skyline) shot from the right wing in the final five minutes of regulation.
The Eagles carried play through the first overtime, outshooting the Green Terror 4-0 through the 10-minute session.
Each team had 15 shots for the game while McDaniel had a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks.
The Green Terror returns to action at Ursinus on Saturday. Game time is 5 p.m.
