SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Swarthmore scored twice in a 90-second span to defeat McDaniel 2-1 in Centennial Conference (CC) men's soccer action on Saturday.
Kerry Shutt (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg) scored for the Green Terror (4-7-2, 0-5-1 CC), finding the back of the net in the 44th minute.
Michael Nafziger had a hand in both goals for the Garnet (7-7, 3-3 CC), registering a goal and an assist.
Shutt gave the visitors a 1-0 lead at the break, volleying home a failed clear from short range with just 1:16 remaining in the first half.
However, before eight minutes elapsed in the second half, the hosts would respond.
At the 51:03 mark, Joey Bradley finished a rebound off a Nafziger shot-and-save then just 1 minute, 27 seconds later, Nafziger headed in a Tommy Sheehan free kick for the lead.
Nick Over (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) made four saves for McDaniel.
Swarthmore finished with a 17-11 advantage in shots 7-1 advantage in corner kicks.
The Green Terror returns to action at Juniata on Tuesday. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
