SCRANTON, Pa. – Scranton scored in the 64th minute to break a 1-all deadlock and defeat McDaniel 2-1 on the second day of the Monarch/Royals Classic in non-conference men's soccer action on Saturday.
Richard Forka (Silver Spring, Md./John F. Kennedy) led the Green Terror (1-1) with a goal in the third minute.
Patrick Daley scored the game-winner for the Royals (2-0) off one of two Stephen Kitty assists.
After Forka took the ball away from a defender and knocked in a shot from 18 yards out just 2:27 into the game, Matthew Salvatore evened the game with a header off the first Kitty assist in the 20th minute.
Daley blasted a shot from 14 yards out at the 63:29 mark off assists from Kittle and Rich Loeffler.
Jack Pebole (Little Silver, N.J./Red Bank Regional) made four saves in goal for McDaniel.
Scranton finished with a 23-12 advantage in shots and 10-1 advantage in corner kicks.
The Green Terror returns to action at home against Goucher on Wednesday. Game time is 4:30 p.m.
